This committee plans to educate our youth about agriculture by doing mini lessons in classrooms throughout our valley, building confidence in cooking simple beef meals, and providing recipes for them to try at home with their family. They have connected with Oregon Ag in the Classroom and have secured funding to put on an Intouch with Ag Day, an event that plans to connect with 400 fourth grade students the first year and intends to double moving forward. Volunteers will go into classrooms to teach an agricultural unit throughout the academic year and in the spring they attend a culminating field trip that exposes them to many segments of agriculture in a hands-on way. Our JCSA Strategic Plan mentions Ag Education as a component of our association, so we are ecstatic to see the work that this committee does and the positive impact that they will have.

Brian at The Butcher Shop gave an outstanding tour and cutting demo for our Ag Education and Junior Stockmen Committee. He discussed the aging process, the ins and outs of meat retail, and more. We are so thankful for the wonderful local butcher shops we have, and a big thanks goes to Brian for taking the time to put on such an informational tour for our members.
